JBA is an environmental, engineering and risk group committed to exceptional client service and to helping improve the environment, business and infrastructure.

In November 2011 we embarked on an exciting new chapter in our sixteen year history.

We started business in 1995 with the intention of creating a specialist consultancy with an inter-disciplinary approach to our offering. Sixteen years later, JBA has restructured to form a new group of companies, the JBA Group. This will allow us to add to the breadth of our services while focusing even more keenly on our specialist skills and expertise. Today, the JBA family includes:

• JBA Consulting, the original consulting business
• JBA Risk Management, a specialist company for assessing and managing risk
• JBA Renewable Energy, a renewable energy portfolio
• The JBA Trust, a registered charity lying outwith the JBA Group, specifically created to further research and education in our areas of business.

JBA Consulting

JBA Consulting is an environmental, engineering and risk company committed to exceptional client service and helping to improve the environment, business, and infrastructure.  Trading as JBA Consulting Engineers and Scientists Ltd in Ireland, we work closely with our sister company, trading from the UK.

JBA Risk Management

JBA Risk Management Ltd is a leading provider of natural hazard modelling services for the insurance and reinsurance industry.  We are an experienced team of people with great ideas which we deliver through exceptional technical expertise.  We provide security through knowledge, helping you and your clients to understand and manage risks from natural hazards.

JBA Renewable Energy Company

The development of renewable energy sources is a priority for the UK and Irish governments. It is desirable to decarbonise our economies, to provide secure electricity supplies and to provide affordable energy. In the UK electricity demand will go up and is estimated to double as we decarbonise the economy. Our targets are to provide 30% of our electricity needs from renewables by 2020 (7% currently) and it is estimated that £110 billion worth of investment is required in generation and networks over the next 10 years. Through The Land Drainage Renewable Energy Company Ltd.JBA can provide the support that the private sector and government sectors need to deliver this scale of investment. Our skills in spatial environmental planning, hydrology, engineering, geomorphology, fisheries and environmental regulation are already being adapted and combined to provide support for local authorities involved in renewable energy development and for potential hydropower developers.

JBA Trust

We have created the JBA Trust as a not-for-profit company to support and promote scientific research, education and training in the fields of environmental risks and resources.

The JBA Trust will work with leading academic researchers and other charities to create opportunities for research-based project placements and to support students and courses in higher education.

Core funding for the JBA Trust comes from profits made by the JBA Group. However its objectives are non-commercial and it is independently managed and governed by a board of Trustees.
