Senior Civil Project Engineer

Due to expansion of our environmental and engineering sector, we currently have a vacancy for a civil engineer who wishes to work on a variety of challenging civil engineering projects, flood risk management schemes, drainage and environmental projects in either our Dublin or Limerick offices. 

Qualifications:

You will possess a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent, have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience, and have attained or are committed to attaining Chartered Engineer status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.

The Position:

The post will involve technical work on the design, hydraulic modelling, and appraisal of drainage systems inclusive of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS). Experience in flood risk assessment and flood risk management and/or scheme design would also be beneficial. The post is within an existing team of engineers, hydrologists and modellers with a proven track record of delivering Flood Risk Management projects at a local and national scale. You will be responsible for leading bids, negotiating with clients and managing the delivery of a wide range of projects.  

Attributes:

  • An understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus
  • IT skills – including MS Word, Excel, basic AutoCAD skills and company  design software packages including Micro Drainage XP Solutions (WINDES) and/or InfoWorks
  • The ability to identify and apply appropriate scientific methods to solve engineering problems plus knowledge of the limitations of established best practice as defined by Standards and Codes
  • Strong Project Management and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Understanding of the Irish regulatory and policy issues
  • Commitment to CPD and competence
  • Understanding of H&S legislation

Key Responsibilities:

As project engineer you will manage smaller scale projects and continue to work under the guidance of a more senior member of staff on larger scale projects.  You will be involved in the following, non-exhaustive, list of tasks

  • Preparation of fee proposals and tender responses using the Public Works Conditions of Contract.
  • Modelling, design and details of roads, sewers, SuDS etc
  • Work closely in partnership with clients, contractors and other members of the design team.
  • Site visits to assess / report on receiving environment
  • Preparation of planning applications and compliance requirements
  • Production of tender documents and specifications
  • Prepare risk assessments and review the assessments of your project team
  • Demonstrate efficient & proactive work practices, thereby contributing to projects that are delivered efficiently, profitably and on programme.
  • Attendance at Design / Client / Site meetings
  • Commitment to the public interest in all aspects of your work including health, safety, risk, financial, commercial, legal, environmental, social, energy conservation, sustainability
