This project saw us continue our relationship with Meath County Council, for whom we'd previously completed SFRAs as part of the Meath County Development Plan 2013-2019 and the Core Strategy Variation 2007-2013.

Balancing the demands of development against the key environmental considerations of flooding
The Meath County Development Plan (MCDP) seeks to establish a vision for how Meath should develop over the course of a planned period. To support the 2020-2026 MCDP we were appointed as SFRA consultants to identify the associated risks of future developments and propose mitigation measures.
Achieving this required expertise from across our disciplines and saw us provide a range of services. This included undertaking a flood risk assessment for the settlements, conducting and reviewing flood mapping, delivering hydraulic modelling and flood risk mapping and preparing a flood risk management plan.
Having worked with the client previously, we also understood that the communication phase of this project would be key to its successful adoption. Knowing this our objectives included reporting on submissions from the public consultation and making presentations to Meath County Council and the Elected Members.
As a result of our work policies and objectives have now been developed in order to formally manage the impacts of development across all settlements within the Meath. We were also able to support the development of a suite of best available flood mapping, which incorporates mapping from several different studies.
As part of the Meath County Development Plan we also completed SFRAs for the Navan Development Plan, the Kells Development Plan and the Trim Development Plan - as well as SFRAs for six Local Area Plans.
