Launch of the OPW's Flood Risk Management Plans

We are proud to be associated with the forthcoming release of the OPW’s Flood Risk Management Plans, and plan viewer website, www.floodinfo.ie, which was officially launched by Mr Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, T.D., in the presence of An Taoiseach, Mr Leo Varadkar, T.D. on 3rd May 2018.  Jonathan Cooper and Tom Sampson attended the launch as representatives of JBA.

This represents the culmination of over 7 years’ work, which has involved multiple project teams from JBA working on the Western CFRAM Study.  As well as undertaking hydrological assessment, hydraulic modelling and modelling, we also carried out options appraisal and considered factors such as cost, engineering suitability, environmental and climate change impacts.  Working closely with stakeholders drawn from local authorities, national bodies, regional interest groups and local residents, business owners and community groups we organised a number of consultation events, including workshops and information days.

The output of the CFRAM Study is a suite of flood risk and hazard mapping, and Flood Risk Management Plans for each hydrometric area.   This includes a recommendation for flood management works in those settlements where moderate to high levels of flood risk have been identified.

To support the release of the Plans, JBA are also pleased to announce a forth coming ‘Understanding and Using CFRAM Outputs’ training course, with more information available on our training pages.
