JBA take to the water

As a late summer team-building exercise, staff from JBA Limerick took to the water in Killaloe in a fleet of kayaks and Canadian canoes.  The 2.5 hour guided trip took the team up the disused canal to Pier Head and continue up the lake as far as Brian Boru’s fort.  Travelling across the river, just below the open lake and a tail-end and waves gave a little surfing practice back down the lake.  A safe passage through the bridge and downstream as far as Clarisford Park was timely for a tea break.  A last gentle paddle up the canal gave the opportunity for wildlife watching, including a couple of Kingfishers being spotted flashing from bank to bank.  The professional guide, from MyNextAdventure, provided interesting local and historical context to the trip and filled the team in on the fascinating history of Killaloe and life on the River Shannon from the clans of ancient times to the cruisers of today.  Everyone then decamped for a BBQ and debrief.
