Due to our success in gaining a breadth of design work in the environmental and engineering sector we currently have a vacancy for a civil/structural engineer at Senior Engineer level who wishes to work on a variety of challenging structural designs, flood risk management schemes, and drainage and environmental projects in either our Dublin or Limerick office. 

The Position:

The post will involve technical work on the design and appraisal of flood defence works, erosion and coastal protection, culvert design, river restoration works and sustainable urban drainage systems. The post is within an existing team of engineers and hydrologists and hydraulic modellers with a proven track record of delivering Flood Risk Management projects at a local and national scale.   You will responsible for leading bids, negotiating with clients and managing the delivery of a wide range of projects.  You will have a key role in guidance and mentoring of staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

A degree in civil and or structural engineering is essential. The applicant would be expected to hold membership of the Engineers Ireland or ICE, and should be chartered or close to completing their professional review. If required, JBA has a structured training programme and one-to-one mentoring to assist in success at professional review.

Previous professional experience is essential, preferably from a consultancy background. Knowledge of pile design, structural concrete or geotechnical design and experience acting as PSDP would be an advantage. You should also have an appreciation of environmental legislation.  A track record of management of construction works under the Public Procurement Contracts is required.
