With its abundant natural resources, exceptional research and test facilities and strong political backing, the Ireland is well placed to lead the development of the marine renewable energy sector.  Innovation undertaken by our expert marine modellers, has allowed us to penetrate this rapidly developing market.  

Through the recent award of two major funding grants, we are developing a highly innovative strategic planning tool for the marine renewable energy sector.  “ForeCoast Marine” will provide a sophisticated solution to ensure that the risks associated with marine renewable energy construction and operation and maintenance (O&M) activities can be significantly reduced. ForeCoast Marine is designed to simulate potential construction and O&M options, or scenarios, for wave or tidal array sites.  From these simulations, long term strategies to maximise the project’s performance are developed. The tool also acts as a sophisticated forecasting system to guide array construction and O&M activities up to five days ahead of time.
